About us
Design Hotel Neruda is located in the very heart of Malá Strana, on historic Nerudova Street – part of the Royal Route leading to Prague Castle. It is here, in one of Prague’s most picturesque neighbourhoods, that a boutique hotel was created, blending the history of the place with contemporary design and a distinctive atmosphere.
The hotel is the result of a sensitive restoration of three historic buildings whose origins date back to the 14th century. One of them, the House of the Three Eagles (No. 225), is first mentioned in historical records as early as 1348. The complex also includes a former monastery, traces of which can still be felt throughout the interiors today. During the renovation, the individual buildings were carefully connected into a harmonious whole, respecting the original architecture and the unique genius loci of this remarkable location.
Design Hotel Neruda takes its name from the renowned Czech writer Jan Neruda, who lived on this very street and whose legacy is inseparably linked with Malá Strana. The spirit of the neighbourhood and the atmosphere of old Prague are subtly reflected in the character of the hotel.
The hotel’s contemporary form was shaped by architect Bořek Šípek in collaboration with designer Barbora Škorpilová. Their vision was to create a space where historic elements merge naturally with modern design, functionality and comfort. Original interiors and the thoughtful use of light, colour and materials give each room its own character while preserving a calm and elegant ambiance.
In 2008, the property was expanded with additional rooms in neighbouring buildings, forming a unified complex that offers modern amenities such as air conditioning, high-speed Wi-Fi and wellness facilities, while maintaining the intimate feel typical of a boutique hotel.
An important part of the hotel’s identity is formed by original artworks inspired by the personality of Jan Neruda, displayed in selected rooms as well as in the public areas. The pieces were created by contemporary Czech artists Jakub Špaňhel and Marek Číhal, whose distinctive artistic style adds an additional creative dimension to the interiors. Their works subtly connect the literary heritage of the location with a modern artistic expression, further enhancing the hotel’s unique character.
